Huhtikuussa 2023 Suomen Poliisihallitus asetti 2,4 miljoonan euron uhkasakon BML Group Ltd:lle lainvastaisesta rahapelien markkinoinnista Manner-Suomessa asuville kuluttajille. Poliisihallitus on 29.2.2024 asettanut yhtiön maksuliikenne-estolistalle. BML Group Ltd on Betsson AB:n tytäryhtiö.

Betsson (BML Group Ltd to be precise) is making history in Finland yet again. They became the first MGA-licensed operator against whom the National Police Board imposed a prohibition order. The conditional fine of EUR 2.4 million was record high and they almost became the first MGA licensed operator to be placed on the blacklist for PSP-blocking (still possible / somewhat likely).Now they became the first operator whose interim motion was accepted and within 6-18 months they will become the first operator to win/lose a court case against the NPB over a prohibition order. Following this, they will become the first operator whose marketing practices will be scrutinized in the Supreme Administrative Court. Depending on how the situation will unfold, they might even become the first operator to be denied a license in Finland if cooling off period / bad actor clause will be included in the upcoming licensing system.
